La cultura rural
Es un extenso proyecto fotográfico que documenta los pueblos españoles. Allí donde las formas de vida tradicionales rurales, tal cual como las vivieron nuestros padres o abuelos, el pan sigue siendo pan; donde aún se crían libres las gallinas y los huevos son huevos, donde los cerdos y las hortalizas abastecen sanamente las despensas o los graneros. Allí en donde los largos inviernos, la leña de encina, del roble, del haya o la sabina crepita en la chimenea o en la cocina económica para calentar sus hogares, cocinar los alimentos e impregnar las calles con aromas a humo.
Un encuentro con la cultura rural refugiada en pueblos, aldeas o caseríos apartados en páramos y sierras donde acaban las carreteras para dar paso a caminos de caballerías y tractores, a sendas de pastores, vaqueiros y labriegos. Un encuentro con los que dan vida al paisaje, a la huerta, al viñedo, los almendros; al ganado en los prados, a la biodiversidad del barbecho y la dehesa. Mujeres y hombres de miradas apacibles, de rostros surcados por la arruga del tiempo. Retratos anónimos que nos revelan que conceptos "modernos" como el desarrollo sostenible o el reciclaje no es nada nuevo; la esencia de "ser más con menos".
The rural culture
It is an extensive photographic project that documents the Spanish towns. Wherever the traditional rural life forms, just as our parents or grandparents lived them, the bread is still bread; where chickens are still kept free and eggs are eggs, where pigs and vegetables provide healthy food for larders or barns. There where the long winters, oak wood, oak, beech or juniper crack in the fireplace or in the economic kitchen to heat their homes, cook food and permeate the streets with smoke aromas.
An encounter with rural culture sheltered in villages, hamlets or cottages set aside in moors and hills where the roads end to give way to paths of horses and tractors, to paths of shepherds, “vaqueiros” and laborers. A meeting with those who give life to the landscape, the orchard, the vineyard, the almond trees; to the cattle in the meadows, to the biodiversity of the fallow and the dehesa. Women and men with peaceful looks, faces crossed by the wrinkles of time. Anonymous portraits that reveal to us that "modern" concepts such as sustainable development or recycling is nothing new; the essence of "being more with less".
